Concept designs for the new $35 million Heights Technical College in Adelaide have been released, with the college to provide years 10-12 students with vocational education.

The proposed college will be constructed on the Heights School campus on Brunel Drive in Modbury Heights, however, the school and college will operate as separate entities.

The proposed two-storey building, designed by Baukultur, will feature a perforated metal mesh screen on the north, east and west facades for shade and internal temperature regulation, a fully glazed ground level on all but the eastern elevation and panelled metal cladding above and underneath the glazed aluminum windows at the upper level. Gabion wall detailing will be integrated at the ground level to define the eastern and western ends of the building. A balcony on the southern side of the structure will provide views to the school's ovals.

The low-rise building will have an overall height of 10.25 metres and is setback from the street boundaries at 18.8 metres from Brunel Drive and 17.5 metres from Ladywood Drive. The ground level of the building will have a smaller footprint than the upper floor. The upper storey will jut out and hang over the ground floor on all facades, with the additional width to be used to create more learning spaces.

A maximum of 220 students can be accommodated in the facility.

The college is expected to open in 2026.
