The Board of the Green Destinations Foundation is pleased to announce the appointment of Mrs. Jana Apih as its new Executive Director, effective November 1, 2024.
Jana Apih, who currently serves as Managing Director at GoodPlace, a sustainable tourism organization in Slovenia, brings extensive experience and a proven track record in advancing sustainable tourism development.
In her new role, Jana Apih will guide the strategic direction of the Green Destinations Foundation, working closely with the board, directors, and partners to promote sustainable tourism practices worldwide.
Jana is no stranger to Green Destinations. Since 2015, under her leadership, GoodPlace has collaborated with the Slovenia Tourist Board and Green Destinations' founder and President, Albert Salman.
This partnership led to the creation of the Slovenia Green program, recognized as one of the most successful national initiatives promoting sustainable destination management.
Jana's work has also positioned her as a key advocate for sustainable tourism across regions and countries, providing guidance to destinations and businesses embarking on their own sustainability journeys.
"I take this role with a deep sense of responsibility to our members, partners, and friends.
Together, they will continue to lead GoodPlace while contributing their expertise to Green Destinations from their Ljubljana office.
Albert also noted that this transition would allow him to focus more on his role as CEO of Green Destinations Solutions, providing training and capacity-building for destinations seeking certification.
This leadership transition marks a new chapter for the Green Destinations Foundation, as it continues its mission to promote sustainable tourism worldwide.
Booking.com released its 2025 travel predictions list, and one trend, "passport to longevity," has 57% of travelers seeking vacations to "extend their lifespan."
