Birmingham Airport, one of the UKââ¬Ës busiest airports, has reopened and flight services are gradually returning to normal following a temporary closure caused by a security incident involving a suspicious vehicle.
The airport, which serves nearly 12 million passengers annually, was evacuated yesterday, resulting in all flights being suspended as a precautionary measure.
The incident occurred around 12:20 BST, when a suspicious vehicle prompted the deployment of a police operation.
An Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team was brought in to assess the situation, and the vehicle was later declared safe by West Midlands Police.
Following this, the airport began restoring normal operations yesterday evening.
