Saudi Arabia Accelerates Haramain High-Speed Rail Operations to Serve Surge in Ramadan Umrah Travel
As Ramadan unfolds, Saudi Arabia has significantly expanded operations on its Haramain High-Speed Railway, scheduling over 3,400 journeys throughout the holy month to meet the overwhelming demand from Umrah pilgrims and travelers.
This enhanced service now offers more than 1.6 million seats, ensuring a swift, comfortable, and congestion-free travel solution between the sacred cities of Mecca and Medina.
The integrated network features six train platforms and is directly connected to King Abdulaziz International Airport, streamlining movement for passengers and reducing the pressure on surrounding road infrastructure.
The fleet comprises 35 electric trains, each configured to seat 417 passengers across 13 cars, offering a mix of economy and business class options. Each train is designed to ensure a premium travel experience with features such as onboard entertainment systems, food and beverage services, and dedicated facilities for passengers with disabilities.
Business class travelers enjoy additional luxury amenities, while the overall travel experience is enhanced with modern hospitality and comfort.
The Haramain stations are designed as comprehensive transit hubs, offering a wide range of services including medical centers, emergency and security units, prayer facilities, retail shops, dining outlets, cafes, pharmacies, and executive lounges.
