Former U.S. Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, who sought the Democratic Party's presidential nomination in 2020 before leaving the party and endorsing former President Donald Trump, told Breitbart News that Vice President Harris' handling of "unscripted moments" will be "very revealing" during Tuesday night's presidential debate.
While Gabbard bowed out of the Democratic Primary without any electoral success, she was largely credited with sinking the candidacy of then Senator Kamala Harris during a primary debate. Gabbard who once aligned herself with the progressive wing of the Democratic Party pressed Harris over her record as a prosecutor and frequent flip flops.
Harris, who was seen by many pundits as a formidable candidate, stuttered her way through the exchange and was widely viewed as ineffective.

Now, Harris has left the Democratic Party due to their stances on foreign wars, illegal immigration and a number of other issues. She has also been assisting former President Trump with debate prep ahead of what may very well be the lone Trump-Harris debate.
On Monday, Gabbard joined Breitbart News host John Slater to share her thoughts on the debate, as well as her expectations for Vice President Harris.
"At that point in the race, it was very clear she was being handled with kid gloves by the mainstream media and the Democrat elite leadership. No one was challenging her on her record," Gabbard said of the pivotal primary debate exchange. "...It was very similar to 2016, when Hillary Clinton ran for president, and everyone said she was the most qualified person ever to run for president in our nation's history listing out her different titles in government, but never confronting her about her war-mongering record."
The former Democrat went on to predict that Harris will struggle with chaotic and unscripted moments on the debate stage.
"This is going to be the same challenge that Kamala Harris has in tomorrow's debate. She's been vice president for the last three and a half years," Gabbard added. She has a very clear record on all of the important issues that the American people are most concerned about, both domestic and foreign. She's trying very hard to run away from those."
"President Trump also has a very clear record on those issues during his first term in the presidency. And so she's going to have to be confronted. President Trump knows her record very well. She's going to have to answer some tough questions about why she didn't fix the things that she is now claiming are broken," she continued.
Gabbard further predicted that Harris will be more prepared to defend her own record rather than running away from it like she did in 2019. "Kamala will deliver some very well-rehearsed lines. I have no doubt that's what she's doing now, is memorizing those lines and doing so by being grilled with a Donald Trump stand-in," she said.
Reports surfaced earlier in the week that Harris has been working with a Donald Trump impersonator during debate prep. The same stand-in assisted with Hillary Clinton's debate prep in 2016.
"But again, in the same way that I did with her in 2019, how she does in those unscripted moments, how she does in response to the truths and facts that Donald Trump will be sharing with the American people that she does not want them to know this is going to be very revealing," Gabbard said.
The former congresswoman also noted that Harris will likely be receiving assistance from debate moderators, both of whom have demonstrated extreme anti-Trump bias in the past. ABC News is also run by Disney executive Dana Walden, a lifelong friend of the Harris-Emhoff family who has donated to Kamala's political campaigns since the early 2000's.
As for her thoughts on Trump's approach to the debate, Gabbard told Breitbart News that he should stick to the same game-plan he used in the June debate with President Biden.
"No matter what happened with Joe Biden, [Trump] didn't get personal. He stayed very focused on the issues that are most important to the American people and kept reminding voters about the truth of Joe Biden's record. He will do the same with Kamala Harris and not allow her to get away with the lies that she's telling the American people," Gabbard said.
The ABC News debate is scheduled to begin at 9 p.m. Eastern Time on Tuesday. While Harris has claimed she is open to another debate later this fall, her campaign has yet to provide any details.
