"Meet The Press" host Kristen Welker falsely claimed that Vice President Harris was present at the dignified transfer of the 13 U.S. service members who were killed in the Kabul suicide bombing during the Afghanistan withdrawal. NBC News was forced to issue a retraction as a result.

The exchange came during an interview with Senator Tom Cotton (R-AR) in which the pair discussed the ongoing Arlington Cemetery hoax.

Vice President Harris and other left-wing leaders have falsely accused the former president of "disrespecting sacred ground" by laying a wreath in honor of the 13 fallen service members at Arlington National Cemetery. In response, Gold Star families whose relatives were killed in the bombing have come to the former president's defense and rejected Harris' attacks.

President Trump was invited by us, the Gold Star families, to attend the solemn ceremonies commemorating the three-year anniversary of our children's deaths," said the families in a joint statement. "He was there to honor their sacrifice, yet Vice President Harris has disgracefully twisted this sacred moment into a political ploy."

The families confirmed that both President Biden and Vice President Harris were invited to attend the memorial ceremony, though they both opted not to do so.

On Sunday's episode of "Meet The Press," Senator Cotton further defended the former president against left-wing attacks on Gold Star families and false claims about the event.

"He didn't take campaign photos. There are these families, Gold Star families, whose children died because of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris' incompetence, invited him to the cemetery. And they asked him to take those photos," Cotton said.

"On our broadcast this morning, we incorrectly implied that both President Biden and Vice President Harris attended the dignified transfer of 13 American service members killed during the Afghanistan withdrawal. Biden was in attendance but Harris was not," the official "Meet The Press" account wrote in an X post.
