The White House was moved to defend her on Sunday night, after leading US media outlets portrayed a VP struggling to make her mark.
âFor anyone who needs to hear it,â said the White House press secretary, Jen Psaki, Harris âis not only a vital partner to [Joe Biden] but a bold leader who has taken on key, important challenges facing the country - from voting rights to addressing root causes of migration to expanding broadband.â
Psaki was firing back on multiple fronts.
On Friday, as Harris wrapped up a visit to France, the New York Times said: âTen months into her vice-presidency, Ms Harrisâs track record on delivering on the administrationâs global priorities has been mixed.â
Célia Belin, of the Center on the United States and Europe at the Brookings Institution, told the paper: âI think sheâs been really hidden this whole time and out of the sight of most Europeans. I think sheâs been quite under the radar.â
Then, late on Sunday, CNN published a lengthy report headlined: âExasperation and dysfunction: Inside Kamala Harrisâ frustrating start as vice-president.â
A Delta Air Lines flight bound for New York City from Las Vegas made an emergency landing shortly after takeoff on October 29, 2024, due to fumes in the cockpit. Flight DL2133, originating from Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) in Las Vegas and destined for LaGuardia Airport (LGA) in New York, reported an issue within minutes of departure, leading the crew to declare an emergency and return to the Las Vegas airport for a safe landing.
