Tramboo highlighted that diversifying tourism offerings not only enhances visitor experiences but also protects Kashmir̢۪s natural beauty. He urged all members to adopt ethical business practices and serve as responsible ambassadors of tourism, stressing that the industry can thrive harmoniously alongside the environment and local communities.
The president reassured attendees of the association̢۪s dedication to transforming Jammu and Kashmir into a welcoming and tourist-friendly destination.
Following his remarks, Secretary General Sajad Ahmad Kralyari presented the Annual General Report, detailing the association's achievements over the past year. He emphasized TAAK̢۪s efforts in promoting Kashmir̢۪s unique tourism products both domestically and internationally, showcasing the region̢۪s rich cultural heritage and stunning landscapes. The report highlighted significant strides made in marketing initiatives and partnerships that have broadened the reach of Kashmir̢۪s tourism offerings.
The event was anchored by Past President Farooq A Kuthoo, who reiterated the necessity for responsible tourism practices and collaboration among all industry stakeholders. Kuthoo emphasized the collective responsibility to preserve the region̢۪s natural and cultural resources for future generations, reaffirming TAAK̢۪s commitment to promoting sustainable and responsible tourism.
The event culminated with the presentation of the Manzoor Siddiq Memorial Award, given to renowned hotelier Zahoor Ahmad Tramboo. This prestigious award, presented by Chief Guest Ghulam Muhamad Dug, honors individuals who have made exceptional contributions to the tourism sector.
In his acceptance speech, Zahoor Ahmad expressed deep gratitude for the recognition and praised TAAK̢۪s relentless efforts in promoting tourism. He also paid tribute to the legacy of Manzoor Siddiq, whose vision and dedication have profoundly impacted the industry.
Chief Guest Ghulam Muhamad Dug emphasized the resilience of Kashmir̢۪s tourism sector, which has weathered numerous challenges thanks to the unwavering commitment of the travel trade fraternity. He called on the LG administration to provide essential financial support to enhance tourism infrastructure and urged the government to facilitate the renewal of registrations for existing tourism units to ensure they have the necessary resources for upgrades.
The AGM featured notable speakers, including Gowhar Maqbool, President of the Kashmir Hotel and Restaurant Owners Association; Nasir Ahmad Shah, Chairman of IATO (J&K Chapter); Athar Yameen, Chairman of TAAI (J&K Chapter); Shamim Shah, Chairman of TAFI (J&K Chapter); Manzoor Wangnoo, Chairman of the Nigeen Lake Conservation Organisation (NLCO); Sameer Baktoo, Chairman elect TAAI (J&K Chapter); and Waseem Goosani, Secretary General of TAAK. Their insights highlighted the need for teamwork and innovative ideas to revitalize the tourism industry in Kashmir.
