Despite the disruptions caused by Hurricanes Milton and Oscar, international air arrivals remained steady at 1.7 million visitors. This figure not only matched the pace of 2023 but also exceeded 2019 levels by 3.3%. December 2024 proved particularly strong, with 1.15 million visitors recorded, marking a 14% year-over-year increase.
Regional tourism growth was led by the Abacos island chain, which saw an 11.9% increase in air arrivals. Grand Bahama Island followed closely with an 8.7% rise, marking a significant recovery to pre-Hurricane Dorian and pre-pandemic visitation numbers.
As the Bahamas continues to experience rapid tourism expansion, its commitment to sustainability and infrastructure improvements remains a key focus. The government is expected to unveil new initiatives aimed at maintaining momentum in visitor growth while ensuring long-term environmental and economic sustainability.
