The year 2024 marked a milestone for Ptuj, Slovenia̢۪s oldest city, with record-breaking tourism numbers, vibrant events and growing international recognition.
With its rich cultural heritage, historic attractions, and diverse experiences, Ptuj continued to attract visitors from across Slovenia and beyond.
Ptuj welcomed 154,131 overnight stays in 2024, reflecting a 2.8% increase from 2023. The visitor demographic included 55.1% foreign guests (84,967) and 44.9% domestic visitors (69,164). The city also saw a 3% rise in overall arrivals, with 65,588 tourists visiting Ptuj throughout the year.
Ptuj also partnered in larger national and international events, including Ptuj, Olympic City!, the Slovenian Olympic Torch relay, and major food and wine festivals such as Open Kitchen and Salon Sauvignon.
