Now Cultural Landscape Of Al Faw Archaeological Area, Saudi Arabia, Joins UNESCO List

At the 46 th  annual session of UNESCO World Heritage Committee, arranged inNew Delhi, India, the committee recorded the Cultural Landscape of Al-FawArchaeological Area, Saudi Arabia, on the World Heritage List.This highlights the eighth World Heritage inscription of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,a witness to the continuing commitment of the country toward conserving its richcultural heritage.Here, early 12,000 archaeological remains have been discovered, spanning fromprehistoric times to the Late pre-Islamic age. Archaeological features include thePalaeolithic and Neolithic tools of primitive humans, pointed structures, cairnsand circular constructions, Khashm Qaryah – the holy mountain, funerary tumuliand cairns in the valley, rock carvings, the oasis and its old water managementsystem, and the ruins of the city of Qaryat al-Faw.How to reach: Flynas Airlines and Flyadeal have flight services on this route,offering a convenient access to reach this historic site. One can hire a car or elsecan take a cab from Al Jawf to Al-Faw. Basra (BSR) is the nearest airport to Al-Faw.One can drive from Basra (BSR) to Al-Faw in 1h 55m.Best Hotels: To enjoy a true experience, old-styled guesthouses near Al-Faw, willprovide old décor, local gastronomy, and cultural activities.
