JetBlue has appointed Steve Olson as its new head of system operations and airports, reporting to Warren Christie, chief operating officer. Since joining the airline in 2022, Olson has served as vice president of the system operations center, overseeing daily flight execution and spearheading initiatives to enhance reliability and efficiency—key components of JetBlue’s JetForward strategy focused on achieving sustained profitability.
Under his leadership, JetBlue has significantly improved on-time performance and strengthened its ability to recover from operational disruptions, particularly within its complex East Coast network. Olson has also led a major operational modernization effort, introducing advanced aircraft movement and flight planning systems, with a new crew management system set to launch later this year.
With over 20 years of airline leadership experience, Olson began his career as an aircraft maintenance technician in the Air National Guard. A licensed aircraft dispatcher and commercial pilot, he brings a comprehensive understanding of the aviation industry from multiple operational perspectives.
