The 2024 Green Methanol Energy Industry Development Forum and the Farizon New Energy Commercial Vehicle Methanol-Hydrogen Product Showcase recently took place in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia, shining a spotlight on the region's advancements in the new energy sector. These events not only celebrated Inner Mongolia's progress but also charted a clear course towards a sustainable and green future.

As a region abundant in natural resources, Inner Mongolia holds both the advantage and responsibility to spearhead a modern energy economy. The forum brought together global organizations, government officials, experts, and leading enterprises to discuss green methanol's development and strategies for high-quality growth in new energy. Li Shufu, Chairman of Geely Holding Group, highlighted the region's commitment to restructuring its industries and bolstering ecological security, creating a robust foundation for green methanol as a productive force.

Inner Mongolia has also made significant strides in green methanol production. The initial phase of the Alashan Green Methanol Project, designed for an annual production capacity of 500,000 tons, has officially commenced operations with a starting capacity of 100,000 tons. This project utilizes Geely's advanced technology to synthesize methanol by coupling hydrogen from water electrolysis with industrially captured carbon dioxide, effectively recycling carbon resources. This initiative not only supports Inner Mongolia's green transformation but also serves as a model for nationwide methanol economy development.

Inner Mongolia's progress is backed by strong policy measures. In 2024, the region secured 4.699 billion yuan in central financial subsidies for renewable energy, boosting wind, solar, and biomass power generation. Additionally, special funds have been allocated for industrial transformation, innovation in key sectors, and research in energy conservation and environmental protection.

Looking forward, Inner Mongolia aims to use green methanol as a catalyst for high-quality energy development. Plans include establishing a robust green methanol ecosystem, promoting methanol-hydrogen electric commercial vehicles, and advancing production technologies. These efforts are part of a broader strategy to optimize the energy structure and achieve green, low-carbon growth.

Inner Mongolia's innovations in the new energy sector are driving regional development while offering valuable lessons for global energy transition and sustainability. By prioritizing innovation and sustainability, Inner Mongolia is forging a path to a greener future, positioning itself as a leader in the global green energy movement.
