Georgia is set to achieve its third consecutive holiday travel record in 2024, with AAA projecting that 3.7 million residents will journey at least 50 miles from home during the festive season.

The surge in holiday travel comes on the heels of a bustling Thanksgiving season and reflects national trends.

AAA attributes the preference for road travel to flexibility and affordability, especially for families with young children.

Despite the anticipated road travel boom in Georgia, national road travel is projected to fall slightly below its 2019 peak.

Air Travel Expands Capacity to Meet Demand

Airline trade group Airlines for America (A4A) has also projected record air travel this holiday season.

In response to increased demand, U.S. airlines have added 140,000 more daily seats.

This expansion highlights the resilience of the aviation industry, even as ticket prices climb.

With record-breaking travel expected in Georgia and across the U.S., the 2024 holiday season is shaping up to be one of the busiest yet, underscoring a strong recovery in travel driven by consumer confidence and economic stability.
