EgyptAir announced today the suspension of its flights to Baghdad and Erbil, citing the ongoing unrest in the region and prioritizing passenger safety. The airline also canceled flight MS0719 to Amman, advising travelers to contact its customer support for further assistance with their bookings.

This decision comes as military tensions rise sharply, following Israel’s recent airstrikes on Iranian military installations on Saturday. These airstrikes were launched in retaliation for a significant missile barrage from Iran on October 1, marking an escalation in hostilities between the two nations.

Egypt has expressed deep concern over the ongoing military confrontations, warning that they may lead to a broader conflict that poses risks to regional and global security. In response to the growing crisis, Egypt called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, suggesting that a prisoner exchange between Israel and Palestine could be a vital step toward calming the situation.

Furthermore, Egypt underscored the need for respecting Lebanon's sovereignty, urging a cessation of military actions within its borders. Reinforcing its commitment to international law, Cairo reiterated the importance of upholding state sovereignty and the principles of the United Nations to maintain peace and security in the region.

The Israeli military confirmed it launched 20 targeted strikes on Iranian facilities, including missile production sites and defense systems, though Iranian officials contest these reports. The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) is expected to release an official statement shortly.

These events come on the heels of a major Iranian missile attack involving nearly 200 missiles aimed at Israeli military sites on October 1, a significant escalation over previous offensives. The tit-for-tat strikes have raised concerns across the Middle East, as the ongoing violence in Gaza, Lebanon, and now Iran and Israel threatens to draw the region into a broader conflict.
