Budapest Airport has achieved outstanding cargo performance in early 2025, reinforcing its position as the leading cargo hub in East-Central Europe. Last year, the airport handled nearly 300,000 tons of cargo, surpassing its regional competitors, including Vienna Airport.

The robust growth trajectory has continued into 2025, with February cargo volume reaching 29,063 tons, a 44.3% increase compared to the same month in 2024. This growth brings the total cargo volume for 2025 to 51% higher than last year, outperforming key competitors like Vienna and Munich.

This remarkable surge in cargo handling is largely attributed to Budapest Airport's transformation into a crucial hub for East-Central Europe.

Budapest Airport has solidified its role as the go-to cargo hub in East-Central Europe by forging direct cargo connections with several key cities in Asia.

The integration of new technologies and processes will further enhance its capabilities and contribute to its standing as one of the leading cargo airports in the region.

As the 2025 cargo season progresses, Budapest Airport is committed to sustaining its growth and supporting the needs of its expanding network of airline partners and cargo clients.Image: Budapest Airport
