The Rise of the Golden Idol, the sequel to the excellent point-and-click murder mystery game The Case of the Golden Idol, will be released on November 12th. The game, which was first announced last year, also has a new demo that you can try on Steam right now.
The Rise of the Golden Idol takes place in the 1970s, a time jump of more than 200 years from the mysteries you solve in The Case of the Golden Idol. "The Rise of the Golden Idol follows a tenacious relic hunter on a quest to unearth the powerful artifact that - if the legend is true - can reshape the world," according to the game's description on Steam. "As the observer, you must investigate 20 strange cases of crime, death and depravity."
The Rise of the Golden Idol will be available on PC, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, Xbox, and on mobile if you have a Netflix subscription.
In addition to revealing the release date for the new game, developer Color Gray Games also launched a "Redux" update for The Case of the Golden Idol that adds things like a new UI and a new hint system. Case is set to be verified on Steam Deck soon, too, though I didn't have much trouble playing the game on Valve's handheld in 2022.
The Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, California, has opened an exhibit featuring a collection of ancient Jewish manuscripts along with 200 other artifacts.
