Apple has now revealed the entirety of its M4 Mac lineup. It includes a new entry-level MacBook Pro with M4 for $1,599, as well as the step-up M4 Pro (or M4 Max) models in 14- and 16-inch sizes, which once again start at $1,999 and $2,499, respectively. We're also getting a new 24-inch iMac with M4, plus an updated Mac Mini with an incredibly small build and an M4 chip. Preorders for the desktop machines start at $1,299 and $599, respectively, and all of the new hardware launches on November 8th.

Besides faster processors, a common theme among the 2024 Macs is that they all start with more RAM to aid the Apple Intelligence experience arriving as part of macOS Sequoia 18.1. Apple doubled the memory from 8GB to 16GB on the entry-level M4 MacBook Pro, the M4 iMac, and the M4 Mac Mini. The MacBook Pros with M4 Pro, meanwhile, now offer 18GB as opposed to 24GB.

Most of the new machines look familiar otherwise, with the exception of the M4 Mac Mini. The new model is considerably smaller than the M2 Mini from last year, and features a reshuffled I/O configuration - the front has a 3.5mm audio jack and two USB-C / Thunderbolt ports, while the rear gets three additional USB-C ports in addition to a gigabit ethernet and HDMI port. However, the base M4 Mini still uses Thunderbolt 4, while the M4 Pro model gets Thunderbolt 5.

The same Thunderbolt disparity is true between the M4 and M4 Pro MacBook Pros, though all three get upgraded 12-megapixel webcams with support for Apple's Desk View mode, along with optional nano-texture displays for reducing glare. The iMac looks the same compared to its predecessor, but also gets the 12-megapixel camera bump and a few new colors. We haven't tested the new M4 MacBooks, Mac Minis, or iMac (yet), but if you fancy yourself an early adopter, there are a lot of preorder options to consider.

Where to preorder the MacBook Pro with M4

The base M4 MacBook is still only available in a 14-inch configuration, but it now comes with 16GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD at its $1,599 starting price. Apple also threw in an extra USB-C / Thunderbolt 4 port on the right side and added space black as a color option. Apple is accepting preorders right now ahead of the laptop's November 8th release date.

You can upgrade to 1TB of storage for an extra $200 before checkout or 2TB of storage for an additional $400. The same for the RAM; you can get 24GB for another $200 or 32GB for $400. You can also opt for a nano-texture display that reduces screen reflectivity for another $150.
