The FBI on Wednesday raised the homes of at least two senior aides to New York City Mayor Eric Adams, according to a report from Politico.

FBI agents conducted searches of the homes of First Deputy Mayor Sheena Wright and Deputy Mayor for Public Safety Philip Banks III early Wednesday morning. Investigators also seized electronic devices belong to each official.

Agents also searched the home of Timothy Pearson, a former high-ranking official in the New York Police Department who now advises Mayor Adams on public safety.

In addition to the raids on Mayor Adams' Administration, federal investigators also targeted NYPD Commissioner Edward Caban and other top NYPD officials, according to a report from the New York Post.

Both the mayor's office and the FBI have not yet commented on the raids, and it is currently not known whether there are two separate investigations. According to the New York Post, citing sources familiar with the probe, the NYPD raids are connected to a long-running investigation into influence peddling and corruption allegations.

A separate report from the New York Times reported that a separate investigation is focused on senior officials in the Adams Administration.

The probes are being carried out by federal prosecutors in the Southern District of New York, which has also been eyeing Adams' 2021 campaign in another unrelated high-profile investigation, sources told the New York Post.

On Thursday, Mayor Adams commented on the string of raids for the first time as he exited City Hall. "As you've heard me say over and over again, as a former law enforcement person we will always follow the law and that is what this administration always stood for and will continue to stand for," he said. "Whatever information is needed, we will turn over."

In a separate statement released by City Hall Chief Counsel Lisa Zornberg, it was implied that New York City officials are not the ultimate target of the investigation. "Investigators have not indicated to us the mayor or his staff are targets of any investigation," Zornberg said.

"As a former member of law enforcement, the mayor has repeatedly made clear that all members of the team need to follow the law."

In a statement of their own, the New York Police Department confirmed that it was aware of an investigation focused on senior NYPD officials. "The Department is aware of an investigation by the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York involving members of service. The Department is fully cooperating in the investigation," a department  spokesperson said in a statement Thursday,
