Legal Group Launches Probe Into Biden-Harris Admin Over Rise Of Dangerous Venezuelan Gangs

Legal watchdog group America First Legal is opening a series of investigations into the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), concerning violent foreign gang activity that is becoming a major threat in a number of states.

In a press release, AFL pointed to recent reports and shocking footage from Aurora, Colorado, where an entire apartment complex was taken over by members of the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua (TdA). Armed members of the gang were seen freely patrolling the buildings corridors in a viral August 29 surveillance video that took the nation by storm.

Residents have further reported that gang members engaged in flagrant trespassing, assault and battery, unlawful firearm possession, and other criminal activity.

The press release also referenced a recent incident in Chicago, when authorities were alerted to similar activity involving a residential building. Venezuelan gangsters were also involved in that distress call. Later that week, on Thursday, September 5, 2024, authorities in western Wisconsin arrested a likely Tren de Aragua member on multiple charges relating to domestic violence.

"These gang members would not be present if the United States had a secure southern border," AFL wrote.

In response, the legal group has filed several requests for records from DHS and the FBI concerning the Venezuelan Tren de Aragua gang presence in Colorado, Illinois, and Wisconsin. AFL is also demanding records concerning contact between state and federal law enforcement in order to "uncover any and all communications that the Biden-Harris administration may have received about this rising threat to public safety."
