Joe Biden had a cancerous skin lesion that cannot metastasize or spread removed last month during his annual physical, the White House confirmed on Friday.
At 80, Biden is the oldest president ever to occupy the Oval Office, and his health is monitored closely by media, allies and opponents alike.
If successful, he would be 82 at the start of his second term and 86 at its end.
Biden has faced health challenges previously, including treatment for two cerebral aneurysms in 1988.
