Eight eminent Australian designers will be inducted into the Design Institute of Australia (DIA) Hall of Fame for 2023.

All inductees have created an outstanding body of work, as well as have made significant contributions to the Australian design industry in their discipline areas.

Acclaimed industrial and furniture designer, Adam Goodrum will be admitted into the hall of fame for his remarkable portfolio of works created both nationally and internationally for organizations such as Cappellini, Alessi, Norman Copenhagen, Louis Vuitton, Cult and Tait. Raised in Perth, Western Australia, Goodrum studied industrial design at the University of Technology (UTS) in Sydney, where he later held an academic role for a number of years. He is frequently called upon to feature in industry discussions about design practice and is also mentor to emerging designers who intern at his studio.

Celebrated industrial designer and co-founder of ISM Objects, Celina Clarke has been revealed as a 2023 inductee. Her award-winning work can be found in significant collections, including MOMA New York, the Powerhouse Museum NSW and the National Gallery of Victoria. Upon completing a Bachelor of Arts (Industrial Design) and Certificate IV of Lighting Engineering and Design at RMIT, Celina soon established a career as a leader in lighting design. Her commitment to the advancement of design is expressed through her former 7-year appointment as chair of the Victorian Premier's Design Awards from 2016 to 2023 and as board member and vice president of Craft Victoria.

Harlee Anstee has been an interior design practitioner since 1963 and has worked at Nexus Designs since 1975. A DIA member since 1992, Anstee has advocated for improved recognition of the interior design profession, as well as has mentored many of today's successful interior design practitioners. His induction into the 2023 DIA Hall of Fame comes after a DIA fellowship in 2007 and several project design accolades with Nexus Designs.

Renowned industrial designer, collector, curator and senior lecturer at Monash University, Ian Wong can now add DIA 2023 Hall of Fame to his long list of accomplishments. Wong has been invited to present his thought-provoking research on Australian design in all corners of the globe, including Milan, Beijing, Hong Kong, Tianjin, Suzhou, Sydney, Adelaide, Launceston, Melbourne and his hometown of Shepparton in regional Victoria. Products designed by Ian as director of EJO Design have ranged from one-off objects like the RMIT University Ceremonial Mace to brain-scanning equipment, Antarctic sleds, and million-dollar high-speed agricultural sorting equipment. In 2021, Wong was awarded a Good Design Australia's Gold Design Award for Design Research.

Interior design pioneer, Maryanne Milazzo was one of the first females to be appointed a director role in a design practice in South Australia. She has worked for leading architectural practices, managed three architecture and interior design businesses in Adelaide and Sydney and was a founding partner of Hardy Milazzo Architects and Interior Design. As director at Hardy Milazzo, she led projects across various sectors including corporate work environments, retail, hospitality, education, alternative living, heritage and residential. In 2017, Milazzo was recognized as a South Australian Design Icon by the Design Institute of Australia.
