Archisource has announced the winners of its 2022 Drawing of the Year contest.

Yichen Sheng of Melbourne School of Design received the Architectural Award 2022 for a drawing, Vessel of Machine.

The judges lauded the mix of traditional drawing methods and creative flair, as well as the selective use of colour.

"The strong composition and placement of colour intensity and detail directs your eye through the most important details before inviting you to explore the drawing further," said the judges. "The drawing captures the essence of the project to display art, detailing the architectural elements with precision."

The winner of the Drawing of the Year 2022 Award was Joe Russell from Bartlett School of Architecture. Judges described Russell's awarded drawing, Tightening the Green Belt, as "a sophisticated and powerful execution of visual representations of outstanding qualities that are also underpinned by a well-grounded, sustainable narrative and purpose."

Elsewhere in the awards, Melbourne School of Design students Wen Zhuhai and Jingyi Liu were commended for Drawing of the Year and Visualization Award, respectively.

Archisource Drawing of the Year awards celebrate outstanding imagery created by students and professionals from around the world.

Now in its fourth year, the competition has a prize pool of £30,000 (AU$57,000).
